Nov22 - JFK Assasination

I read in the news, today's is the day back in the year 1963 JFK was assassinated. While browsing through the POSTACH.IO feeds, I stumbled upon the below interesting narration by the blogger where he was, when the assassination happened.http://scriptingnews.postach.io/i-was-alive-when-jfk-diedHere is the Wikipedia Content published today along with the portrait of JFK:"A posthumous portrait of U.S. president John F. Kennedy, completed by Aaron Shikler in 1970. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested that evening for the crime, but was killed by Jack Ruby two days later, before a trial could take place. The FBI and the Warren Commission officially concluded that Oswald was the lone assassin, but conspiracy theories persisted. In 1978, a select committee concluded that both investigations were flawed and that the assassination was probably the result of a conspiracy. "

10 PMP Questions for Today - Discussed in LinkedIn Group

As I mentioned Earlier, LinkedIn PMP Preparation groups are awesome. Being a novice in this area, I get to see other's comments, views, dealing with diversified and effective community. I am still not a Contributor to this group, Will become one some day as I beginning to travel in this course of preparation for the exam.

Here are some questions, I recently read and Consolidated in Evernote/Postach.io ! (Love these tools, as I feel these tools are going to aid my preparations to great extent).

1) A project is being undertaken to redesign the manufacturing facility of an automobile plant to meet the pollution control laws passed recently. Which of the following is not a stakeholder in the project ?

a. The assembly line worker at the plant
b. The management team at the plant
c. The Ministry that enacted the laws
d. The Trade Union of the plant
Answer is C
2) In which type of organization is team building likely to be most difficult ?

a. Functional
b. Projectized
c. Matrix
d. Project expeditor
Answer is C (Matrix organization ( whether it is weak, strong or balanced ) would require the team to report to two different managers i.e Project Manager and Functional manager. That would make team and morale building more difficult than in the other cases where you have loyalty to only one manager like Functional Manager in case of Functional Organization i.e option a and the Project Manager in case of Projectized Organization i.e option b)
3) XYZ corporation, a general contractor, entered into a Cost plus fixed fee contract to build houses for the client Tower properties international. The approved estimated cost was 90 M. The agreed fixed fee was 10%. The project was completed, without any scope changes, in 4 years and the final cost for performing the contract came out to 100 M. The total amount that XYZ Corporation gets paid from the client, including for the fees is

A. 99 M
B. 109 M
C. 110 M
D. 100 M
Answer is B (actual cost + Fixed fee = 100 + ( 10% * 90 ) = 109 M)
4) These diagrams rank-order factors for corrective action by frequency of occurrence. They are also a type of histogram. What are these?
A. Control charts
B. Process flowcharts
C. Scatter diagrams
D. Pareto charts
Answer is D
5) The portfolio steering committee is considering selecting Project A. The committee expects the project will produce a one-time benefit of $900,000 three years from now. The interest rate at a local bank is 10% per year. How much would need to be invested in the bank now to obtain the same benefit?
a. $ 900,000
b. $ 676,183
c. $ 1,197,900
d. $ 743,801
Answer is B [Formula to calculate PV (Present Value) (Rita's book, page 119)]

C. Team evaluations
D. A preliminary project plan
Answer is B {Resource requirements review should include for materials & other resources also. As the provided information does not include dependencies & schedule hence he is not reviewing a project plan. He is not doing a team evaluation.}
7) On a new systems development project, the project manager needs two programmers. He knows Alice and Uma were able to create a program in 40 days similar to the one he wants to create on his project. He decides to use 40 days as his estimate for the new project. This is an example of what type of estimating?
A. Parametric modeling
B. Analogous
C. Rule of thumb
D. Fixed rate
Answer is B {Analogous estimate is the one which uses historic data to arrive at a new estimate. A parametric model is a mathematical representation of cost relationships that provide a correlation between the physical or functional characteristics to the cost.
